PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The structure is located between K38+064.87 and K38+265.00, connecting the cities of Bogota - Villavicencio. This viaduct consists of two bridges 200m and 256m long and 12.8m wide. The structure is part of the improvement and expansion project of the road network of the road Bogota Villavicencio.

 

DESIGN/CONSTRUCTION APPROACH

The structure consists of two bridges 100m and 110m long main span respectively, built using the progressive cantilever method. Right bridge deck is 200m long and 12.80m wide, left bridge deck is 256m long and also 12.80m wide. Each bridge has two lanes and three spans, 50m-100m-50m long at the first structure and 95m-110m-51m long at the second one. Both structures are supported on two abutments and two central reinforced concrete piers 15m and 26m high. Their foundation was executed through deep foundation reinforced concrete system with caissons. The bridge decks are formed by continuous prestressed concrete box girders rigidly attached to piers and supported on bearings on the abutments.

One of the bridge’s deck is a single box 12.80m wide and variable depth between 5.50m at piers and 2.00m at mid-span. The second structure has variable box girder depth between 5.75m at piers and 2.20m at mid-span. It is designed for all the segments the existence of internal post-tensioning. At mid-span areas there will be lower continuity post-tensioning for service phase than with the bridge running the final static scheme.
