The project improvements shall replace the existing general use lanes in both directions, and replace the existing auxiliary lanes between interchanges. In addition four proposed managed lanes will improve the capacity and operation of the I-4 corridor.

DESIGN/CONSTRUCTION APPROACH

Regarding the bridges along the corridor, there will be 13 widened, 74 replaced and 53 added, totaling 140 permanent bridges. There will also be two temporary bridges to maintain traffic during the construction phase. In addition, 15 major interchanges will undergo complete reconstruction.

The main bridge typologies included in the project are steel tub-girders, steel box girders and prestressed girders.
