PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This construction project involves the design of a new road which crosses the municipal districts of Montroig del Camp and Cambrils.

The determination of the necessary infrastructure for this stretch was based on existing and future infrastructures that cross the road, by the cliffs and torrents that must be maintained according to DIA, and by the necessity of maintaining existing local paths.

The freeway design route is 3 mi (4.9 km) long and it runs across the southern part of the Baix Camp region of Tarragona. The design speed is 62 mph (100 km/h).

 

DESIGN/CONSTRUCTION APPROACH

The new roadway includes a total of ten structures, divided into three viaducts, five overpasses, and two interchanges. The roadway section includes three viaducts that cross the Riudecayes Creek 344 ft (105 m), the Vandellos – Tarragona railway line, the AP-7 Freeway 885 ft (270 m), and the Gener Ravine 285 ft (87 m). Our service included the conceptual design and the construction engineering for concrete precast beams bridges and post-tensioned bridges.

Two different ramps connecting the T-323 and T-312 roads have been designed using a diamond interchange with roundabouts.

Design was carried out according to Spanish Code requirement.
