PROJECT DESCRIPTION

 

The A-27 Expressway: Tarragona – El Morel section runs through the municipal districts of Tarragona, Constantí, La Pobla de Mafumet and El Morell. The A-27 begins where the state road N-340 joins with the road access to the port and ends once it crosses the Reus-La Pobla de Mafumet-Perafort railroad track.

The new highway is 4 mi (7.76 km) long and it has been designed for a design speed of 62 mi/h (100 km/h).

 

DESIGN/CONSTRUCTION APPROACH

The new roadway includes a total of ten structures, divided into five viaducts, nine overpasses, three underpasses and one aqueduct. Three of the designed viaducts allow to cross the Francolí River, the Mas Blanc and Manver Stream, and the existing railroad.

The other two viaducts have been designed having the Francoli River with a hydraulic capacity of a 500-year flood event. The vehicular ramps that connect the AP-7 and the Riu Clar industrial zone, the one that connects the T-721 road with the service roads, and the one that connects the T-721 and T-750 roads all have been designed.

Design was carried out meeting the Spanish Code requirement.
